Too Much Taylor

Angelo Taylor turned in some strong peformances over the past several weeks, but none more impressive than his 400m win at the 6th Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in South Korea.

Not a win in the 400m hurdles, the race where Angelo is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Instead, AT clocked a 45.21 in the straight quarter-mile on May 19th, racing to victory ahead of, among others, 2008 Olympic 400m bronze medalist, David Neville.

AMONG WORLD'S BEST
So far in 2010, Angelo has put down the top six times in both the 400mH and the 400m. Even more impressive than that is that he collected both finishes in the same meet.

On May 1st, running at Baie Mahault, Guadeloupe, Angelo won the 400mH in a time of 48.16, the second fastest time in the world this year. Not to be outdone, he stormed to victory in the flat race, winning in 45.02 -- the sixth-fastest victory in 2010.

STRUGGLES AT DOHA
Racing at the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix 2010, Angelo had high hopes of defeating rivals Bershawn Jackson and Kerron Clement. But on May 14th, as described by USA Track and Field, it was simply not AT's day.

In the men's 400m hurdles, it was a race between Angelo Taylor, Kerron Clement and Bershawn Jackson, the men who took gold, silver, and bronze, respectively, at the 2008 Olympic Games. Taylor was out strong, with Clement and Jackson chasing, but started to fade in the final 150m. The three crossed the 100m-to-go mark almost even with each other. In the final seconds it looked like a Clement victory was imminent but Jackson surged over the final 10 meters to claim the win in 48.66 as Clement finished second in 48.82. Taylor faded to fourth and finished in 49.66.
