First in Shanghai

Angelo Taylor's first international test in the 400-meter hurdles yielded his first victory of 2012.
Despite heavy rains, AT crossed first in the 400mH during Saturday's Samsung Diamond League meet in Shanghai. His time of 48.98 — a season's best for AT —bested compatriot Justin Gaymon by nearly a tenth of a second. Angelo got off to a brilliant start and held off Gaymon's late rush to take the win. Though he knows he can be even better, AT noted that he was satisfied with the result, which he believes is a good sign that his training is paying off.
"This result tells me I am in a pretty good shape. I am definitely going in the right direction with my training. But I am still looking for improvement," Angelo told the Shanghai Daily.
AT also revealed that he has modified his training regimen so as to take better care of his body in preparation for U.S. Olympic Trials next month and subsequently the London Olympics.
"This year, I'm being very, very cautious and being very aware of my body," he told the Associated Press. "Mentally, I've been there and done that. I'm a two-time Olympic champion, so I know what it takes."

Angelo continues his Asian tour with a trip to Taiwan for the Taiwan Open Athletic Championships, where he will run the 400mH again on Friday night.
