Ready to Dominate the World
by Matt Martino
Despite finishing third in Sunday's national track and field championships, Angelo Taylor was pleased with his effort, and focused on his immediate goal.
"It's time for me to concentrate on getting ready for the [world] championships."
The Olympic champion finished with a time of 48.30 in the 400m hurdles despite nursing a hamstring injury. His third place finish at the 2009 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships earned him the final spot on the U.S. team.
He along with Berhshawn Jackson, Johnny Dutch, and reigning world champion Kerron Clement will represent the United States in the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany (August 12-23).
Jackson, who won Sunday's event with a world-leading time of 48.03 seconds, had some bold predictions for the U.S. squad:
"Most definitely a sweep. We have the greatest hurdlers in the world. I don't think other countries in the world can compete with America."
With Angelo, Jackson, and Clement, the last three global champions will all be represented on the U.S. team in Berlin.
